I just wanted to be sure you knew of an upcoming concert in Jaffrey NH this Sun at the Silver Ranch Hall on Rt 124. We have been presenting some wonderful acoustic music shows and acoustic jam sessions in this quaint old NH dance hall. Pete Sutherland will perform at 5pm and will offer a fiddle workshop beforehand at 1pm. concert $10 workshop $30 Dont miss this one! Rich

also on Sat Mar 6th Geoff Bartley will perform  a concert  at 7pm ($10) We will an oldtime bluegrass jam in the aft before the show.

The Monadnock Mountain Music Series at Silver Ranch In Jaffrey returns with two shows this month of great southern oldtime fiddle music. Rhys Jones on fiddle and Meredith Watson on guitar will perform on Sat Nov 21st at 7:30pm. Rhys Jones has been playing traditional Appalachian, French-Canadian and Irish fiddle music for 30 years, has won both fiddle and band contests at The Appalachian String Band Festival (Clifftop), and is regarded as "one of the bright lights of the current generation of traditional performers". Meredith Watson is a gifted guitarist who is digging through the archives of traditional American music, tapping the source of the old songs with a nimble and eloquent new voice. On Sat Nov 28th, two masters of oldtime music, fiddler Alan Jabbour and banjoist Ken Perlman each will present a 3 hr workshop at 1pm and then perform a concert together at 7:30pm. Alan started to fiddle in the 1960's and learned directly from musicians like Henry Reed and Tommy Jarrell and performed with the Hollow Rock Stringband, an important link in the instrumental music revival of the 60's. Ken Perlman is considered one of the top clawhammer banjo players in the world, known in particular for his skillfull adaptations of Celtic tunes to the style.  Howdy friends and neighbors,   Just a short note to let you know Ill be opening the show on Fri Sept 25th 8pm at the Bull Run on Rt 2a in Shirley Ma for David Buskin and Robin Batteau. These two fellers were Tom Rush's early bandmates and went on to write a number of jingles that you have heard for the Army, Chevy and many more. I have an album of theirs from years past and when i saw them on the calendar with an opener tba I wrote the Bull Run and told them they should have me open. They agreed. Wanted to let you know about an upcoming show at the Silver Ranch Hall in Jaffrey on Sunday Aug 2nd. The show will feature Wilmington, Delaware based singer- songwriter Kyle Swartzwelder.kyleswartzwelder.com/ I met Kyle in Pa during my June tour, more about that later. Kyle has a new cd out and has some good tunes. He's been voted best male vocalist of the year by radio in his area. I will be opening the show for him so it should be a fun varied evening of live music. Show starts at 7pm with a suggested donation of $10. limited seating. If you didnt make the last show, cmon out and support the music. Partial proceeds will benefit my friends and cohorts, the Jaffrey- Rindge Ambulance. If you havent heard, I won the 2nd place ribbon in the Folk Song category at the Mt Airy Fiddlers Convention in early June which gives me bragging rights for the year. I hardly ever win anything, dont play the lottery, so it was quite the surprise. I fooled em with a not so old song written by Billy Ed Wheeler called Red Winged Blackbird. Ill sing it for you if you come to the show! Anyway my 3000 mi trip was big fun. met a whole bunch of nice folks along the way. Ill be headed to Clifftop WV for the first time for the String Band Festival the last week of July and then to Galax Va for the Fiddlers Convention there. I’m finally getting around to having a cd release pre-tour show at Silver Ranch in Jaffrey,NH on RT 124 across from Kimball's on Fri eve May 29th at 7:30pm. I hope you will join me for an intimate evening of fiddle tunes, banjo tunes and songs from my recent Cornstalk Fiddle and a Shoestring Bow cd in this quaint old New Hampshire hall. Ill be headed south in early June with dates in West Virginia, the Mt Airy Fiddlers Convention in NC and a show near Philadelphia.
